Cllr support against Officer refusal

Here's a rewarding permission.

Planning permission was previously granted for the conversion of buildings at a former rabbit farm near Stroud to live-work units.

Located within an exposed position, inclement weather during the construction phase caused a collapse.

Cue the Local Authority claiming that as the building had collapsed, it could no longer be converted and therefore the permission was now unimplementable...

We submitted an application for re-instatement and, in addition to local and national policy, ran arguments that the underlying permission remained extant, that the collapse was accidental rather than a deliberate act, that the original materials would be re-used, that the re-construction would be identical to that formerly permitted, that the retention of embodied carbon was an important material consideration and that similar circumstances had been allowed in neighbouring LPAs.

Despite significant opposition from the Local Authority, Cllrs debated the application for over an hour, eventually resolving to grant the permission.
