Heritage Design
Many farms and rural estates include historic buildings that require careful assessment when considered for conversion, alteration or repair. Our heritage design work begins with survey and research to understand a building’s history, condition and significance.
Projects include listed buildings, traditional barns and other historic rural structures across Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. Significant features and sensitive areas are identified first, with proposals prepared to minimise harm while allowing viable new or continued use. The objective is to keep buildings maintained and functional rather than redundant.
Planning and heritage policy requirements are addressed directly within drawings and supporting material, enabling applications to proceed on a clear and proportionate basis. Traditional materials and repair techniques are considered alongside modern performance requirements such as insulation and services, ensuring upgrades do not unnecessarily compromise character or fabric.
The approach is practical: retain what matters, adapt where appropriate, and keep historic buildings in active rural use.
