Permission Secured for Equestrian Diversification at Frogmore Farmhouse

Wreyland Rural Planning has secured retrospective permission for an equestrian diversification project at Frogmore Farmhouse, near Moreton-in-Marsh.

The development comprises gallops, a manège and the use of an existing stable building for commercial livery. These activities operate alongside a 30.5-hectare mixed farming enterprise comprising arable cropping and a pedigree beef herd, with agriculture remaining the principal use of the holding.

The application demonstrated that the equestrian enterprise was a modest and appropriate form of farm diversification. The development is concentrated around the established farmstead, makes use of an existing stable building and involves limited, low-lying and reversible works without intrusive lighting.

Particular attention was given to landscape character, highway safety and the interaction between vehicles and users of nearby public rights of way. The supporting evidence demonstrated that the existing access provides suitable visibility and that the limited additional traffic would not materially affect the surrounding highway network.

The permission provides the holding with a complementary source of income while preserving the agricultural character, tranquillity and landscape qualities of its rural setting.
